Mary V. Hewitt

Mrs. Mary VanLeeuwen Hewitt, 83, of 3683 Adams, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 1977, at a local nursing home of a stroke.

Mrs. Hewitt was born Nov. 15, 1893, in Ogden, a daughter of George (Gerhardus) and Hermena Jansen VanLeeuwen.

On Sept. 22, 1915, she was married to Andrew G. Hewitt in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

She retired in 1957 from the Mountain Fuel Supply Co., and worked as a clerk at Hill Air Force Base from 1943 to 1946. She had lived all her life in Ogdn [sic].

She was a member of the Ogden 14th LDS Ward and had been a Relief Society visiting teacher for 50 years.

Surviving are her husband of Ogden; three sons and two daughters, Grant J. Hewitt, Salt Lake City; Gordon A. Hewitt, Lexington, Ky.; Boyd L. Hewitt, California; Mrs. Virginia H. Koldewyn, Ogden; Mrs. June H. Whetton, North Salt Lake; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday [Aug. 19, 1977] at 11 a.m. at Lindquist and Sons Colonial Chapel with Bishop Carlyle Shaw of the 14th Ward officiating.

Friends may call at the mortuary Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to services. Interment in Ogden City Cemetery.
