—The remains of Mrs. Halstead, the beloved wife of Mr. K. W. Halstead, were quietly laid to rest, yesterday morning [May 29, 1888], at 10:30 o'clock. Mrs. Halstead had been sick but a few days, when her case developed into scarlet fever of a most malignant form, and although she had the best medical attention she passed away at 9 o'clock Monday night [May 28, 1888]. There was no funnral [sic] service save at the grave. We tender to the bereaved husband our deep sympathy.
