Mrs. Amanda G. Eason, 79, of 811 Wilbur Ave. died in a Norfolk hospital Sunday [Dec. 17, 1961] at 8:45 a.m. after a long illness.

She was a native of Berkley, daughter of Cater and Mrs. Deborah Cooper Halstead. The widow of George Washington Eason, she was a member of South Norfolk Baptist Church. She was an employe of Leigh Memorial Hospital for 12 years.

She is survived by two sons, Col. George W. Eason of Bayside and Sidney E. Charlton of Hickory; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday [Dec. 19, 1961] at 2 p.m. in Francis A. Gay Funeral Home. The Rev. Graham S. Carlton, pastor of Oak Grove Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
